What is the reason behind not being able to type fast?

Some have good typing speed, some have don’t. Is there a reason behind this aside from practice?

Hi,

Some people are unable to type quickly simply because they have not learned how to properly type, or have not practiced the skill enough regularly to see any improvement. Some people cannot type quickly due to pre-developed health complications, such as arthritis, carpal tunnel, and more.

But for the most part, people that find they cannot improve their typing speed are focused far too much on improving just the speed at which they type. Instead of focusing on typing faster, they should be trying to focus on typing more accurately. To do this, always make sure that you start and finish practicing with your fingers in the correct places on your keyboard.

Accurate placement leads to accurate typing, and accurate typing leads to faster typing and a higher WPM count. Keep track of your typing efficiency by tracking your progress, and it will help to keep you motivated to continue improving your typing skills.

You’re right! There are a lot of variables that may affect someone’s typing speed. As you suspect, the amount of time dedicated to practicing with good technique is the biggest factor playing into how fast and accurately you are able to type.
