I already know typing but only using hunt and peck

Do I still need to learn touch typing though I can type hunt and peck?

If you have been typing with the hunt and peck style for years, it may be intimidating to think about learning a new technique. And truthfully, it may be. You may find that you have to unlearn bad habits before you can relearn touch typing, and it may take a substantial time investment. But improving your typing skills is one of the best things you can do for your mind, body, and career.

Hi Lottie,

Using two or three fingers to hunt and peck takes much longer and allows for the development of bad habits. It is much better to keep your hands still and allow for efficient use of all fingers. Touch typing involves the specific placements of all eight fingers and both thumbs; once muscle memory is strong enough, this style allows for the typist to focus on the screen rather than the keyboard.
