Effect of Touch typing in Efficiency

How will touch typing impact one’s efficiency?

Hi there,

If you have to constantly look at your hands while you are typing, you cannot also be looking at a document, a book, or talking to someone that is dictating their needs to you. If you are able to use all your fingers to type, then you can act as a scribe for someone that is talking, or look at a book or different computer monitor to merge and bring different documents together. If you are not looking at your hands while you are typing, you will be more efficient.

Hello, @lilyanneknight!

Aidan is right, not having to look at the keys is a game changer for typing efficiency.

I’d also like to add that learning proper posture and hand positioning through the program will help to reduce the threat of nerve damage from overuse. I personally suffer from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in my right wrist, and learning how to hold my body properly has greatly lessened the amount of flare ups I get. The time I have saved not tending to sore hands has definitely improved my overall efficiency - and happiness!
