Data Entry Staff

I will be applying as data entry staff, is typing necessary for the job application?

Data entry jobs are fairly self-explanatory and involve entering data into an electronic database. This job is extremely typing-heavy and requires high speeds and accuracy.

If you are looking for an entry-level position, this is a great option. There is always a need for data entry, and you can likely secure either full or part-time positions in a number of fields

Hello, @aairahshort!

Assuming the application process is not timed, you will likely have the ability to work and rework your application to perfection before submitting, so you won’t need to worry much about typing at that point.

I’d argue, though, that good typing skills are necessary for most jobs in the 21st century workplace, so once your application is approved, you’ll really be wanting those typing skills handy!

In general, typing around 45 WPM is deemed average. With data entry specifically, touch typing would allow you to focus on your screen rather than the keys. Touch typing skills would also come in handy for functions such as copy & paste, the types of functions you would be repeating often in data entry.

It has been a while since you posted - have you had any luck improving in your typing skills?

Wishing you the best of luck in all!
