How will I increase my typing speed within a month?

I want to increase my typing speed as soon as possible because I am planning to look for a homebased typing job. Is there any way to achieve more than 50 WPM?

It depends on how much is your current typing speed. Each of us has different learning ability and when touch typing, it has also something to do with your muscle memory. Start as soon as possible but don’t stress yourself too much.

There are people that swear by subliminal messages in certain YouTube videos available on the internet, such as the “type like a secretary subliminal youtube video.”

There are several video programs that you can listen to for a period of ten to 20 minutes. You will have to wear headphones - noise-cancelling headphones are the best. Start the video, relax and shut your eyes. You may need to adjust the volume so that you can hear the music at safe and normal setting.

The program will then introduce a subconscious memory map of the keyboard in your mind. Run several of the programs and repeat a few where you feel that it’s necessary. If you don’t notice any improvement, you may just have to go back to the default method of improvement - practice!

Practicing touch-typing is the best method to use to learn the technique. On average, your speed and accuracy combined will increase by one word per minute for every 2.5 hours of practice.

Hi Lyka, can you please help us with some links to those programs if you can? I would greatly appreciate.

@ronanfitzgerald - are you proficient in touch typing already? Or are you hoping to transfer in an effort to increase your speed?

If practiced consistently on a daily basis, typing skills are bound to improve dramatically in a matter of weeks. With Typesy, since each lesson is customized to its learner, the length of time needed for mastery varies. Typesy is designed to monitor each student’s progress and adapt to their skill level, so you can be sure you’re improving at the right speed.

If you develop the muscle memory needed for touch typing, consistent daily practice is your best option for increasing your overall WPM.

Kerry
