Having a hard time in typing.

Why do older people have so much trouble typing, when before modern keyboards there still were typewriters?

Hi,

Maybe because they are not that exposed to computer jobs and many tasks were done manually unlike now that almost everything is done on the computer.

Generally, it has to do with exposure. The older generations may not have spent dedicated time learning and/or practicing keyboarding skills.

Additionally, as we get older, it can be harder to commit new skills to muscle memory. If a child and an adult were to start learning touch typing together, the child is likely to pick up the skill at a much faster rate as their brains are still primed for learning.
