Common Core Standard for Keyboarding

Hi, what is the common core standard for keyboarding?

Hi,

For content guidance, you may check Common Core Standard for each grade level here:

Hello, @adnanbruce!

As you’ll see, the CC standard does not specify how to teach keyboarding or which skills should be earned by which grade. The standards are meant to be open guidelines rather than prescriptions.

What the standards do dictate is that keyboarding is deemed an essential skill. For in school purposes, many states have now converted from paper- to computer-based tests, meaning students must have a solid foundation of keyboard learning in order for test scores not to skew. For a larger application, consider how the world continues to rely more heavily on technology, and that the ability to type has now become a necessary skill for any and all entering the 21st-century workforce.

The common core standards may not give you a roadmap to teaching typing, but luckily there are programs like Typesy, designed to ensure your learners meet and exceed the standards set for them.
