# Metric in Typing Competence

Yes, our typing competency is a metric that gives a realistic indication of progress. This is a number out of 100 that takes speed, accuracy and the number of keys learned into consideration.

It’s really great that Typesy takes more than just speed into account when assessing typing skill. A high WPM with low accuracy is not a desirable goal; the amount of time needed to correct typing errors should be taken into account when testing a true WPM. The fact that Typesy is measuring all of this ensures you, as a learner, know exactly where you stand!
