Will learning how to touch type also improve my memory?

Hi!

Yes. When you type using the touch-typing method, you are activating quite a lot of memory skills. Muscle memory in your fingers and hands tells you the position of the keys and the spacing between them. You also have to remember how to spell words and the functions of all of the different keys.

Absolutely! The science of muscle memory is quite fascinating. The motor skills required for typing, when repeated often enough, become logged as procedural memory. This is the part of long-term memory responsible for remembering how to do certain tasks. Once committed to memory, the act of typing becomes similar to activities such as riding a bike or tying your shoes.
